Mr Abraham Ehijator Aziegbe is a seasoned banking executive with more than 25 years of progressive experience in the Financial Services Industry. He is currently General Manager and Group Head of Retail Operations at Access Bank Plc, where he provides strategic leadership in banking operations, retail expansion, and cross-border growth initiatives.
Before joining Access Bank, he built a distinguished career at Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank), where he held several senior positions including Head, Central Clearing; Group Head, Commercial Banking, Lagos 2; Regional Head, Transaction Services Group (Southwest, Nigeria); and Executive Director, Operations & IT (GTBank Sierra Leone Ltd.) from 2011 to 2013. His career began with a foundation in professional services at Akintola Williams & Co. (Chartered Accountants), where he worked from 1995 to 1997 before moving into banking.
At Access Bank, Mr Aziegbe has been instrumental in driving major strategic initiatives, notably the merger between Access Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc in 2019, as well as the retail expansion of Access Bank across Africa over the past decade. His leadership has been central to strengthening operational efficiency and supporting the Bank’s ambitious pan-African growth agenda.
Mr. Aziegbe holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Business, an MBA from the University of Liverpool, and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (Second Class Upper) from the University of Benin. He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and has attended several executive management and leadership development programs at prestigious institutions, including IMD, London Business School, and the University of Michigan.
He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Access Bank Cameroon, Access Bank Mozambique (since 2019), and Access Investors & Nominees Ltd., where he brings governance expertise and deep operational insights.
