Student Current Account

Current account for university students aged between 18 and 25 years (inclusive), for residents and non-residents in Mozambique.

Characteristics

  • No minimum opening amount; 
  • Accessible via remote channels such as: USSD, Internet & Mobile Banking; 
  • Allows you to associate debit, prepaid and credit cards (if applicable); 
  • No maintenance costs.

Individual Current Account

Access Bank Mozambique Premium Account with a set of financial services and products designed to accommodate your needs. The minimum amount to open the account is MZN 500.00 and allows transactions through checks, Internent Banking, USSD, Cards (debit, credit and prepaid) and business unit.

Premium/Afluent Current Account

Ideal account for day-to-day management.  With the individual current account make the management of your banking transactions easier and simpler. 

Salary Current Account

An account intended for payroll credit that offers the highest level of comfort and convenience.

Characteristics

  • No minimum opening amount;
  • No maintenance costs;     
  • Availability to request a check book;
  • Possibility of subscribing to debit, credit and prepaid cards; 
  • Availability of execution of direct debits and permanent transfers; 
  • Accessible to a variety of financing solutions, depending on the client’s needs; 
  • Accessible via remote channels such as: USSD, Internet & Mobile Banking Available for subscription in various savings and investment solutions. 

Kids Savings Account

Characteristics: 

  • Minimum opening amount of MZN 100; 
  • Available for individual customers under the age of 21; 
  • Interest-bearing balances starting at MZN 100; 
  • Allowable increases;  
  • A maximum of 5 monthly withdrawals/transfers are allowed without a penalty of 100% of interest; 
  • Subsidized interest for customers who make at least 1 deposit/increase of at least MZN 100 and no withdrawal/transfer during the month.

Individual Savings Current Account

Subscribe to Access Bank Mozambique’s individual savings account and enjoy an attractive interest rate, without having to make a term deposit.

Characteristics: 

  • Minimum subscription amount: MZN 1,000.00; 
  • Accessible via remote channels such as: USSD, Internet & Mobile Banking; 
  • Ensures greater security in transactions through SMS/Email alert services; 


Foreign Currency Account

Opening requirements:

  • Identification documents (Residence permit (DIRE), ID or Passport);
  • Taxpayer No.;
  • Income statement;
  • Declaration of residence
  • 2 passport-size photos
  • Documents without affiliation must be added to the birth certificate.
  • It is necessary to apply for an authorization from Banco de Moçambique to open an account in foreign currency, add to the other requirements and deliver it at the Access Bank Mozambique branch.
  • Depending on the case, additional documents may be requested.


Company Account

Opening requirements
  • Letter of request for account opening (must contain the currency of the account and the condition of transaction as well as the name of the signatories);
  • Photocopy of the Company’s Taxpayer No.;
  • Photocopy of the License/Permit or Authorization Term from the Ministry of Finance, if it is under the investment law;
  • Photocopy of the Updated Certificate of Incorporation;
  • Photocopy of the Publication in the Official Gazette;
  • Photocopy of the amendment(s) to the articles of association or copy(s) of the Official Gazette(s) where the same was/were published (if applicable); the Minutes of the General Meeting of the members, regarding the appointment of the persons with powers of representation of the Institution (If applicable);
  • Photocopy of the signatory’s Taxpayer No.;
  • Photocopy of the identification document (ID, Residency permit (DIRE) or PASSPORT of each signatory);
  • Proof of Residence (Invoices in the name of the subscriber and declaration of residence).


Joint Account

Opening requirements:

  • ID
  • Taxpayer No.
  • Proof of Residence
  • Income Statement or Self-Declaration of Income.
  • If the couple is residing in the same house, proof is sufficient as long as the address is the same as the one on both identification documents.

Private Account

How can I get a Private account? 
To have a private account you must have a monthly income equal to or greater than MZN 250,000.00.

  • Access to a variety of financing solutions with attractive rates, adjusted to the customer’s needs;

A: You must fill out the self-income declaration at the branch.


Benefits of having an Access Bank account
Having an Access Bank account gives you numerous benefits by giving you access to a set of solutions and services designed and developed according to your needs. 

How do I request the unblocking of Internet & Mobile banking?
The unblocking can be done at the branch level with immediate effect or requested from the customer’s line (by email) for current accounts with values not exceeding 50 thousand meticais and will have support after 24 hours.

How do I apply for the access of digital channels (IB/MB/USSD)?
Visit the branch and request to fill out the forms to join the digital channels.

Transferring funds to the wrong account or the wrong mobile wallet

  • For assistance with transfers to the wrong account from your account, please contact us at our Customer Line 800 724 724 / 92264 or visit our nearest branch.

  • It is important that whenever you contact our line, you provide us with the wrong beneficiary number and the correct beneficiary number to which you would like to make the transfer.

Is it possible to deposit the amount directly into an account in Nigeria?

  • It is not possible to deposit directly as each country uses its own platform. But it will be possible to deposit in Mozambique and easily transfer to your account in Nigeria.

What are the Transfer Fees for mobile wallets (M-Pesa/e-Mola)?

What types of loans does the bank offer?

  • A: Consumer loan and loans to government employees.
 

Consumer Loans: 

This loan is simply made available to employees of companies whose bank has an agreement to finance them. This is a flexible loan for the purchase of appliances, furniture, travel expenses, purchase of construction materials and others. 

Conditions of Access to Consumer Loan: 

  • Term: 6 months minimum; 60 months maximum; 
  • Amounts: MZN 25,000.00 minimum; MZN 2,000,000.00 maximum; 
  • Subject to credit protection insurance;

Requirements for joining Consumer Loan:

  • Letter of request for funding; 
  • Domicile the salary in an Access Bank Mozambique account; 
  • Copy of employment contract, where the employee’s remuneration is evidenced; 
  • Copy of valid Identification Card; 
  • Have a record of at least one month’s salary credited to Access Bank Mozambique. 

Government Employee Loan:

Government Employee Loan is a short and medium-term financing facility designed to support government employees in achieving their financial independence and achieving their projects and dreams. 

Required documents: 

  • Identity Card; 
  • Taxpayer No.;
  • Salary statement
  • Salary receipt/payroll 
  • Bank statement containing the last 3 salaries
  • Title of appointment
  • Financial plan(s) of other loans (if applicable)

Characteristics: 

  • Amount: Up to MZN 2,000,000.00 depending on your debt capacity.
  • Term: Flexible terms of up to 72 months.
  • Purpose: Consumption, education, housing, transportation, business, agriculture, livestock.
  • Reimbursement: Payment in instalments, deducted at source (payroll).

Frequently asked questions about loans

  • Does Access Bank accept government employees on Provisional Appointment, to obtain financing?  A: If the nomination is less than 2 years, it will not be possible to finance. If it is over 2 years, we can finance it.
  • Does Access Bank buy debt from other banks?  A: Yes, but for better clarification visit our agency or provide your contact so that one of our managers can contact you and clarify the whole process.

What types of debit cards does the bank offer? 

Access bank has cards for both private and business customers. For individual customers we have Silver, Gold and Platinum.  And for business customers we have available Business and Corporate Visa Card.

  • Silver – MZN 475,00
  • Gold – MZN 1,050.00
  • Platinum – MZN 1.470,00

Frequently asked questions about cards


1. Lost/stolen Debit Card/Prepaid Card

To protect your account, you can call our Customer Service to have your card cancelled immediately and then request a new card at the branch, bringing your ID card with you.


2.How do I get access to the prepaid card?

First you must have a current account at the Access Bank and then apply for the prepaid card at the branch (opening the account is a condition for obtaining the Prepaid card).


3.How do I recharge my prepaid card and current account?

The card can be recharged at the branch upon presentation of a valid passport. It can also be recharged through our digital channels. (transfers the amount from the current account to the prepaid card).

4.Request for a prepaid card statement?

This request can be made at the branch or by sending an e-mail to our customer service line.


5.What are the currencies of prepaid cards? 

A: Metical (MZN), Rand (ZAR), Dolar (USD), Euro (Eur) e Pound (GBP)


6.What is the annual fee for Prepaid Cards?
  • ZAR – 175,00;
  • USD – 13.00;
  • Euro – 12,00;
  • GBP – 10.00. 
7.What is the overseas withdrawal fee? 

A: The amount of the overseas withdrawal fee is MZN 280.00.


8.What is the minimum amount to withdraw daily with the prepaid card?

A: The daily withdrawal limit is MZN 25,000.00. If you are abroad, you must make transactions of a maximum value of MZN 7,000.00 per transaction until you reach the daily limit; if you are in Mozambique, you must make transactions of MZN 5,000.00 per transaction until you reach the daily limit. 


9. Is it possible to make online payments with a debit card?
A: Yes, but there is a need to approach the agency to fill out the form requesting permissions for online payments.

b)Term deposit: 

Does Access Bank have a term deposit? 

   A: Yes. See below the list of deposits that the bank has: 

1.Standard term deposit

Term deposit account across all segments: individual customers and companies of Access Bank Mozambique. 


Conditions of access to the standard term deposit:  
  • Minimum amount of constitution MZN 5,000.00;
  • Allows early withdrawal (with interest penalty);
  • Deadlines of 30, 90, 180 and 365 days;
  • Interest credited at the maturity of the investment; 
  • Possibility of renewing the application. 

2.Term deposit monthly income: 
Cross-segment term deposit account with monthly interest.
Conditions for access to the monthly rent term deposit: 
  • Minimum amount of constitution MZN 1,000.00; 
  • Deadlines of 30, 90, 180 and 365 days;
  • Renewals allowed;
  • Attractive interest rates with the possibility of negotiation (from a certain amount); 
  • Interest paid monthly; 

3.Cheque book Pricing? 
  • Cheque book of 06 cheques – MZN 175,00
  • Cheque book of 15 cheques – MZN 460,00
  • Cheque book of 30 cheques – MZN 800,00
  • Cheque book of 60 cheques – MZN 1.550,00

What is a complaint?

A: It is the oral or written dissatisfaction or disagreement, presented by the Client against the Bank or its Client Manager, within the scope of the disclosure, availability or commercialization of products and services;

Most frequent types of complaints
a)Unsuccessful ATM withdrawals from other Banks
Whenever you make a withdrawal and your account is debited from the account without having received the banknotes at the ATM, contact our helpline or approach one of our branches to report what happened, it will be necessary to share the following data:
  • The number of the card used;
  • The value of the transaction;
  • The date of the transaction;
  • The amount and The bank to which the ATM belongs.

b)Unsuccessful POS payments
Whenever you make a POS payment and your account is debited from the account and the merchant does not confirm the credit, contact our helpline or approach one of our branches to report what happened, it will be necessary to share the following data:
  • The number of the card used;
  • The value of the transaction;
  • The date of the transaction;
  • The amount and the bank to which the POS belongs.
  • The POS slip showing the transaction error.

c)Captive amount on the account/prepaid card
Whenever you have a captive balance in your account or prepaid card, contact our helpline or approach one of our branches to report what happened, you will need to share the following data:
d)The captive amount;
e)The date of the transaction;
f)The amount and the bank to which the POS belongs.
g)If the amount has been held captive after attempting online payment;
(the customer can ask the merchant to confirm by email that the amount has not been received for immediate cancellation).
h)If the amount has been held captive after attempting to pay at POS; (The customer must share the transaction receipt for immediate dismissal).
