Graça Sumbana is a seasoned banking professional with a distinguished career spanning 27 years. She holds a degree in Management from the Faculty of Economics at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM). Graça began her career at Banco Austral in 1998, excelling in various roles, including Customer Service, Operations Manager, and Branch Manager until 2001. In 2001, she joined the now-defunct BNP Nedbank as an Assistant Manager. Her expertise and dedication led her to the back office as Domestic and Foreign Operations Manager until 2009. She then transitioned to retail, serving as Branch Manager until 2014, before returning to operations as Branch Network Manager, a role she held until 2018. In 2018, Graça moved to Compliance, taking on the role of Compliance Officer. Her commitment to regulatory adherence and operational integrity was recognised with her appointment as Acting Head of Compliance in January 2025.
